  Viral content given extra life through facebook sharing

As well as helping facilitate the viral spread of online campaigns, Facebook is being credited with extending their shelf-life. Based on their Viral Ad Network, viral ad suppliers, Rubber Republic, claim that over the last six months, the number of Facebook ‘shares' trebled with actual views per share increasing as well. Rubber Republic's assessment of viral trends allocates some of the successes seen in 2010 to the use of parody and multi-execution campaigns. They reported the top three viral videos on Facebook as (1) Gymkhana Three (DC Shoes); (2) NSFW. A hunter shoots a bear; and (3) Nike Write the future.
